What are the big themes?
On top of studying the five broad areas listed above, you will be continually exposed to six major themes. This are now commonly referred to as the CUEGIS concepts. They are cross-cutting concepts, which means you will see their relevance in one form or another across nearly all of the topics that we study. We will pause and consider them when appropriate, and also integrate them into our news discussions. You should also know that one rather large question is dedicated to these concepts in an exam paper you have to take.

What's the Internal Assessment all about?
The IA is one area where HL and SL are quite different from one another.
Higher Level IA
It is called a Research Project You are going to approach an organisation and investigate a real life decision/problem they are facing. After carrying out some primary research you will use a number of business tools/techniques/theories and offer the organisation some recommendations. In short, you are going to be a consultant to the organisation. Word Limit 2,500 words |
Standard Level IA
It is called a Written Commentary You will investigate a real life business situation, collect 3 to 5 supporting documents and write a commentary about it. No recommendations are expected. As this is mostly based on secondary information you have the opportunity to explore big business more easily than HL students might do. Word Limit 1,500 words |
